Common Questions
What is a permissible purpose?
A lawful, documented reason for the search, such as service of process, judgment enforcement, debt collection, or a fraud or insurance investigation. Every order requires one. You select it here, then certify it on the order form.
Why do you decline tenant screening and employment checks?
Those are consumer-report uses governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Our reports are not consumer reports and cannot be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance eligibility decisions.
What if I only have a phone number or an address?
Several reports run in reverse. Reverse Phone Lookup identifies the owner of a number, and the Address History Report returns the residents and the owner of record for a street address.
Can I get more than one report at once?
Yes. The second step is multi-select: pick every question you need answered, then continue. The result lists each matching report, and one click adds them all to a single order.
What does restricted mean?
Restricted reports require a permissible-purpose attestation at checkout, and some also require supporting documentation. Reports covered by the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act additionally require a statutory basis.
What does no hit, no charge mean?
If we cannot locate your subject, you receive an automatic refund. Every report carries this guarantee except the Motor Vehicle Report, which carries a non-refundable state fee, so a partial refund applies on a no-hit.
